Bellhop

Mobile / PC Hybrid Party Game

A semester-long project made in Unity with a team of seven people, in Bellhop you play as hotel waitstaff in a whimsical hotel for animals competing to earn the most tips in a limited time. The game is hosted from a PC and players use their phones to connect over LAN as controllers to platform around a hotel and play minigames to rack up points. Players can experience over fifteen different minigames, a hotel layout that evolves as you play, and the thrill of competing with your friends.  Watch the trailer here!

The game presented a lot of interesting technical challenges as development and as such, I wore various hats as the situation demanded it. I worked on our netcode transmitting data between players and the server, wrote most of our mobile controller system, and helped debug and unify minigames as needed. I also wrote a modular system for transitioning in and out of minigames, worked on setting up and improving a HUD  and general UI,  and created an outline shader and particle effects to improve signposting.

Franken Rhythm

Build a Monster Girl to the Beat

A quick little rhythm game made in Unity for a 12-hour game jam with a four-person team, with the theme of Rebirth. Our team chose to interpret the prompt with a cute little spooky rhythm / dress-up game where you are a lonely witch who decides to take fate into her own hands and create a girlfriend for herself out of corpse parts. The game features two parts: first, you fight a horde of the undead in a DDR inspired rhythm game, then you use any corpse parts you acquired while fighting these zombies to assemble a girlfriend in a dress-up game.

On this game I worked on the rhythm timing system, the hit counter, the enemy and player movement, the UI functionalities and HUD, the particle effects, and the dress-up mechanic at the end.

Chaotic Good Dog

A Dog's Life Ain't Easy

What goes through the mind of a dog at the peak of their chaos?  This challenging and energetic auto-runner platformer explores the one-track mind of a very chaotic dog. A game that requires precise timing on tight jumps but keeps the turnaround quick and the levels short to keep players from slamming keys in frustration. Play it here at my itch.io page!

The primary goal of this project was to explore game design and aesthetics. Code was provided by a professor and the game's levels and themes are designed around the main mechanic. The game was made in a couple of months, with 5 levels featuring all original assets made in Blender.
